Topics:
Scale-up of direct synthesis and comparison to the industrial AO process (simulation, master’s thesis, starting immediately)
Kinetic investigations and modeling (experimental, master’s thesis, starting in Sept./Oct. 2026)
The project: HyPerCat
Hydrogen peroxide is a green oxidizing agent and a basic chemical with high production volumes and diverse applications.
To make production more sustainable, a synthesis directly from H₂ and O₂ can be carried out instead of the widely used anthraquinone process.
Direct synthesis can be performed thermocatalytically or electrochemically. The HyPerCat project aims to develop a concept for the combined production of these compounds.

Doctoral project
The thermocatalytic direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide is being studied kinetically through the operation of a continuous stirred tank reactor with the goal of modeling the reaction kinetics.
