Equipment and methods

CAT-ACT beamline

The CAT end station of the CAT-ACT beamline at KIT Light Source is dedicated to catalytic research using X-ray spectroscopic techniques. It is operated by the Grunwaldt group at the Institute of Catalysis Research and Technology  and Institute for Chemical Technology and Polymer Chemistry.

The CAT beamline for in-situ and in-operando studies offers following methods:

X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy for elements between Ti K and Ce K edges

Fluorescence Spectroscopy

X-ray Diffraction

Infrared Spectroscopy

Catalysis Labor

The laboratory in the vicinity of the CATACT beamline offers the possibility to conduct the catalytic experiments offline. The laboratory is occupied with the reactive gas supply and gas alarm systems. Mobile in-situ and operando setups can be placed into the fume cabinets and can be operated independently.
