Frederico G. Fonseca completed his Master’s in Chemical Engineering at Lisbon Tech (IST-ULisbon) in 2015 and obtained his doctoral degree at KIT in 2023. Since 2015 he is active in modeling pyrolysis using commercial flowsheeting software (Aspen Plus™). The biggest focuses are heat and mass balances, degradation product characterization and modeling, reaction modeling and kinetics, liquid-vapor modeling and thermophysical property estimation.

Activities and grants:

• 2019: Research project at the King Monghut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL, Bangkok, Thailand) focused on the online estimation of solid feedstock properties using near infrared spectroscopy
• 2023: Research project at the University of Twente (Enschede, Netherlands) focused on the determination of liquid-vapor equilibrium parameters for the mixture levoglucosan-water
• International collaborations (Portugal, Spain, Brazil, UK, Thailand)
